Bed Time

So mom's a little embarrassed that I'm writing this post, so if you do the same speak up so she doesn't feel crazy...

This winter I started trying something new at bed time. I usually get to hang out on the human bed for a little while every night and then I go to my own space. Since it was a colder winter I decided to see if they'd let me in the covers.

I went to the top of the bed and sniffed around and sure enough mom lifted the covers and sheets, I don't think she thought I'd actually get in, but I hopped right in and went to the foot of the bed! I had to move around a bit to get the sheets un-tucked, but I found it nice and cozy and warm. I have to stick my head out usually to get a little fresh air and now mom says she has to wash the sheets much more often.

So this is almost a nightly routine now, but I don't know how much I'll last as it gets warmer! Mom says Grandma's going to get quite a surprise the next time I go stay with them because I can be very pushy!

Here's a picture after mom got up one morning and saw I was still in the covers.

  1. miss princess,
my big sis asa does the same thing!! usually, she gets all hot and stuff in the middle of the night and tries to get out of the covers, which doesn't go over so well with mama and daddy. i'll have to share your trick with her about untucking the sheets at the end of the bed. :)

  2. Oh if I have to get up in the night to get a drink...When I come back to bed I sit on moms pillow and put my face about an inch from her and stare....until she is startled and lets me back in the covers. I have slept under the cover since I came to live with my new mom.

  3. Princess that is so neat. I gotta try that. I don't know if that will fly with my momma though since I have to share the bed with my sister too and she is kinda an oinker if you know what I mean.

  4. all three of my pups do that. Nothing weird about it :) actually, Mesa normally can't find her way out when she overheats so we have to free her!

  5. I had a foster dog one that insisted on sleeping under the covers at my feet. He wouldn't untuck the covers either - I have no idea how he could breathe. But he was happy, and he made a great foot warmer so I was happy too. :-)

Its quite hard to keep ur kind in Australia, but shes a glamorous older lady of 13 and defies rules and regulations. I will post more about her soon. I think youre a star! Love Major

  12. My Brudder Ranger LUVS to sleeps all the way under the covers. It's his favoritest thing in the world to be covered up with blankies. I'm personally not too crazy about it but it does look awful cozy!

  13. Oh funny, I've just recently started letting Stella get on the bed sometimes during the day. Once she started rooting around by the pillows and I knew what would happen if she figured it out! So far when she gets ready to do some real sleeping she gets down and goes to her bed but... That picture is priceless.

  14. My dogs do the exact same thing. Our pit bull, Red, takes up a little too much room for my pregnant wife, though. I try to sneak her up once the ball and chain's asleep.

  18. Ooh, that sounds very cosy, Princess!! Well - that's befitting your name isn't it? I'm not allowed on any furniture or beds at all - although I've never known better so I don't really miss it. Anyway, my own bean bag bed is practically as big as my humans' bed - hee! hee!
